The Research center for advanced light alloys technologies (RCALAT), was established in University of Tehran in January 2015. RCALAT is focused on metallurgy and manufacturing of light alloys. Alloy design and optimization, new applications and manufacturing technologies of light alloys are among the main research topics at RCALAT.
For that reason, broadening the applications of light alloys in transportation industry to reduce vehicle weight and fuel consumption and reduce harmful impacts on environment is a major goal for this center. To achieve this goal, RCALAT has developed close relations with research centers actively working on light alloys science and with industrial corporations producing industrial parts and engaged in light alloys applications.
This research center consists of students and faculty collaborating with different local and international universities and research centers. People working in this center come from diverse back grounds including mechanical engineering, materials science, chemical engineering, electrical and computer engineering and mining engineering.
